Chemical Exfoliation

 Chemical peels are acid solutions applied to the epidermis that dissolve the outermost layer of the skin allowing it to peel off as the days pass. Ideal for treating skin conditions and imperfections, chemical peels are an excellent treatment for melasma, acne, sun damage, enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles. Chemical peels are often referred as chemical exfoliation and epidermal exfoliation.

In this class students will learn how to use glycolic, salicylic acid, Jessner’s, retinol blends and enzymes. This class will also cover an array of topics including:

• Client Consultation and how to customize treatments
• How to assess skin type and select the appropriate Skin Care treatment for your clients
• Skin biology and the importance of using peel solutions formulated with skin constituents and biocompatible ingredients
• Structure of the Skin, Aging, Skin Disorders, and Skin Cancer
• State Regulation of Scope of Practice
• Review of FDA Role in Classification of Cosmetics and Drugs
• How to best address rosacea, hyperpigmentation, acne, aging skin and other conditions
• The Low Dose Approach: How to get results without causing skin trauma
• Pre-Treatment and Post Treatment Protocol
• On day two you will have hands-on practice of the Chemical Exfoliation procedure

Students must hold a Florida aesthetician license or other professional licensing, including Cosmetologists (or equivalent professional governing body designation), Licensed Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practicing Nurse (LPN), or Physicians’ Assistant (PA), Physician. Exceptions may be made for graduate students in the above fields or in their last quarter of study.
